Nihon Local is an independent website and newsletter. We plan to support it with advertising, and we want to be clear about how that works.

What we're paid for today

Nothing. We don't currently accept payment for anything we publish. Every event, restaurant, and day trip in our pages and newsletters is chosen by our editors. We don't use affiliate links, and we don't earn money when you click a link.

Organizers can list their events for free. Free listings are reviewed and checked like everything else we publish, and they don't affect our editors' picks.

When paid placements start

Later, organizers will be able to pay to pin an event to the top of an events page, or to place it in a newsletter. When that happens:

• Every paid placement will be labeled Sponsored / 広告, wherever it appears.
• Paying buys a placement, never a recommendation. Our editors' picks stay independent.
• Paid events are checked against their official page, the same as any other event. We'll decline anything we can't verify.
• We'll update this page and our Terms of Use before the first paid placement runs.

Accuracy

Information such as dates, times, and prices is accurate as of the day we checked it, and it hasn't been provided or endorsed by any advertiser. We aim to keep everything up to date, but we can't guarantee we haven't missed something. Please double-check with the organizer before you go.
